PASCO Probeware for Science Learning

Students at all levels and in every domain of science should have the opportunity to use scientific inquiry and develop the ability to think and act in ways associated with inquiry.

As educators ourselves, we share your commitment not only to helping students achieve science literacy but also to inspiring in your students the same excitement that you have for science. All of PASCO'S equipment works together as one complete, fully integrated solution for everyone - from Primary level through to PhD. And every one of PASCO'S products is designed and developed in conjunction with practising teachers and supported by teachers.

What is Probeware?

Probeware is PASCO'S name for what is commonly, and often incorrectly, referred to as datalogging.

Datalogging, or more correctly electronic measure, is not new. In fact in universities, hospitals and pathology labs it is the standard way of performing most tests. The first computer interfacing available to secondary schools coincided with the first wide spread distribution of computers into schools during the early eighties. Many schools are now up to their third or even fourth generation of interfacing equipment.

PASCO Probeware integrates the datalogger, computer interface, sensors, software, experiments and ancillary equipment into one complete solution that works - for everyone.

Why Probeware?

Students who use probeware see what others cannot see. They regularly, and willingly:

Probeware does not replace real learning or the scientific principles behind the experiments.

It is only a measurement and an analysis tool. Long term studies have clearly shown that computer interfacing leads to a science curriculum with a greater emphasis on content with replies suggesting that more than half of all science teachers rating hands-on activities as better than any other teaching method.

Research results clearly show that students who use probeware and computers to collect and analyse data scored significantly higher on standardised science testing than those who don't use this technology.
